Last week the Fluids Science Resources Flow Assurance Group held their 6th Flow Assurance Workshop at the Australian Resources Research Centre (ARRC). Now in its third year the twice yearly workshop was the best yet. Flow assurance is a key research theme for the ARC ITTC for LNG Futures which launched in April 2016. Researchers presented a selection of their current research including a progress update on HYFAST – a software for transient flowline simulation, hydrate nucleation growth and probability and the use of seaweed derived compounds to prevent calcium scale in pipelines. Participants also had the opportunity to take part in a tour of the UWA Gas Processing laboratories at the ARRC.
With over 35 attendees from 15 companies the workshop was well attended and gave a great opportunity for local Flow Assurance Engineers to keep abreast of the latest research in their area. Feedback from our industry partners has been encouraging and we look forward to the next Flow Assurance Workshop in November 2016. Find our more details here.
The ARC ITTC for LNG Futures is an Australian Research Council Industrial Transformation Training Centre. The Centre has $9M in funding from the ARC and 9 Industry Partners over five years. The LNG research has a strong industry focus and aims to increase growth, productivity and capabilities in this key Australian industry. The flagship project for the training centre is to establish a micro-scale LNG plant and associated research facility. The world first facility will have training, research and demonstration capabilities. This will help accelerate the deployment of new technology by demonstrating new processes in a live plant environment.
