Guoping Hu is named 2021 Young Professional Engineer of the Year for Western Australia by the Engineers Australia.

As a research engineer, Guoping strives to promote innovation, collaboration, sustainability and engineering leadership for good. Guoping received his PhD from the University of Melbourne in 2018. His expertise is in separation engineering including carbon capture, capture of fugitive gases and natural gas production. He has managed and conducted various upscaled R&D projects including a carbon capture demonstration, hydrometallurgical process, and ILZ methane enrichment technology. He has also contributed to 1 book, 23 peer-reviewed publications and 7 patents.

The Engineer of the Year Award is awarded to individuals who represent outstanding examples of innovation and resourcefulness within the engineering profession. The awards website page is updated with the winner for the 2021 Young Professional Engineer of the Year Western Australia.
