PhD Title: Low field NMR as an optimization tool for mechanical dewatering of anaerobic digestate.

Emanuel obtained his BSc (Hons) in Industrial Chemistry from the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel) Brazil in 2019. He completed his MPhil in Chemical Engineering at The University of Western Australia (UWA) in 2023. His current research builds upon his Master’s thesis, titled Novel Low Field NMR Monitoring of Anaerobic Digestate during Solid-Liquid Separation. This research focuses on investigating the dewatering of anaerobic digestate, often used as biofertiliser, using low field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technology. The goal is to quantitatively optimise and predict performance with respect to flocculation and mechanical dewatering processes. It aims to leverage established NMR measurements and data analysis techniques used in other fields to address challenges related to poor dewatering commonly experienced by industries, thus helping to promote an optimal circular economy approach to organic waste management.
