The project aims to develop novel microwave re-entrant cavities for laboratory measurements of reference quality thermophysical data of industrially important fluid mixtures. Microwave re-entrant cavities will be used as the measurement tool as they provide rapid in-situ measurements of multi-phase fluids, without sampling. An optimised system will be developed to simultaneously measure a range of thermophysical fluid properties including density, composition, and phase-boundary conditions. The measured data will be used to develop improved equations of state and mixing rules for relevant fluid mixtures, which will ultimately enable industry to significantly improve the performance of simulation tools for process design and optimisation.
