Separations
Jennifer graduated with a Master of Chemical Engineering from UWA in 2016. Now as a PhD Student Jennifer is currently working developing and optimizing a method for synthesis of zeolite from fly ash to discover its potential application in natural gas separation.
PhD Title: Utilization of Coal Fly Ash for Zeolite Synthesis and Geopolymer Production.
Coal fly ash is a hazardous solid waste produced from coal combustion facilities for electricity and heat generation and widely used as additives in construction industry. However, world average of utilization rate of coal ashes is only around 25%. This PhD project mainly focused on the alternative utilization of coal fly ash as feed stock for zeolite synthesis and additives in replace of OPC for geopolymer production. The application of synthesized zeolite on heavy metal removal has also been investigated.
