Spin off company Gas Capture Technologies is a finalist in this year’s “Energy Award 2017” as part of the IChemE Global Awards.

The company was founded by LNG Futures Director Professor Eric May and Chief Investigator Dr. Kevin Li to commercialise their gas separation technology.  Together with Perth company Oilfield Production Technologies and Chinese partner DKT they are testing their novel adsorbent at scale in DKT’s demonstration plant.  The adsorbent is very effective at removing impurities such as nitrogen from natural gas.  One tonne and ten tonne trials are planned over the next year.

The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) has officially announced the finalists for the IChemE Global Awards 2017. More than 140 entries from 21 countries have made it to the final stages of the Awards, and an overall winner from each category will be revealed on 2 November 2017.

The IChemE Global Awards celebrate excellence, innovation and achievement in the chemical, process and biochemical industries. In 2016, at the ceremony in Manchester, UK, winners from around the world came to the stage to collect Awards for fascinating projects, all with environmental, societal, and economic advantages.
